The Big SandBox was honored this week as one of the finalists in the Knight Cities Challenge! Out of 7,000 applicants, 126 finalists across 26 cities were singled out, including 20 in Philadelphia. Congrats to our fellow finalists and especially those in Philadelphia!
We submitted our idea for a civic movement, DIG PHILLY, that will bring together diverse voices from all age, ethnic and economic groups, to plan and build city schoolyards around four design parameters: 1) green infrastructure; 2) physical activity; 3) nutrition and gardens; and, 3) community parks for after-school hours.
